FIXED FEE DIVORCE

DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS – GETTING A DIVORCE

We are able to represent you in Divorce Proceedings for a fixed fee.

If you are the Petitioner (i.e. you proceed with the divorce and we draft the Divorce Petition for you) the fee will be £595.00 plus VAT (£714.00) plus disbursements.

If you are the Respondent (i.e. we receive the Divorce Forms on your behalf) the fee will be £495.00 plus VAT (£594.00) plus disbursements.

UNDEFENDED DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS

This is on the basis that the divorce remains undefended and the procedure is as detailed in DIVORCE PROCEDURE.

If additional work is required or the matter becomes more complex we will increase our fees in line with the additional work needed and we will advise you of the increase in costs.

The vast majority of divorces proceed on an undefended basis.

DIVORCE DISBURSEMENTS

The disbursements will include court fees and other expenses.

VAT is charged at the standard rate of 20 % (for UK and EC clients).

FIXED FEE DIVORCE

We consider that charging on a fixed fee basis is in your best interests.

HELP WITH DIVORCE

Most solicitors operate on a time costs basis. This means that they charge you for each letter written and received and each telephone call, as well as for other time spent on your case. This creates a potential situation where the divorce lawyer has a financial benefit from long-winded litigation. Furthermore it does not encourage open and frank discussion between the client and the divorce solicitor because the client is aware that the clock is ticking and is anxious not to increase costs. The client is left feeling out of control, as if he/she has signed a blank cheque to a divorce solicitor.

DIVORCE SUPPORT

We are also able to offer fixed fee quotations for the following:

1) Drafting a CONSENT ORDER

2) Representing you on an ANCILLARY RELIEF APPLICATION

3) Preparing a PRE-NUPTUAL AGREEMENT

4) Preparing a SEPARATION AGREEMENT

5) Preparing a COHABITATION AGREEMENT
